The delayed Olympic Games in Tokyo kicks off next week and will see 339 medal events crammed into a 19-day period, with two sports kicking off before the opening ceremony.

Group matches in women’s football and softball will be played on Wednesday, two days before Friday’s opening ceremony at Japan’s National stadium.

This is to ensure all the longer events can be squeezed in before the closing ceremony on 8th August as well as making sure there are no significant clashes on TV.

Tokyo is eight hours ahead of the UK and most events will take place from around midnight to 3pm, but some events such as the marathons, race walks and triathlons, will start earlier.
