A morbidly obese man who weighed nearly 450 pounds and couldn’t get a date has revealed that he lost his virginity after shedding 169 pounds and transforming his body.

Omar Thaher, 22, from Toronto, Canada, began to notice that he was overweight when he was six years old. Food became a comfort for him, and he struggled to control his portion sizes.

‘Food was my coping mechanism. As I grew into my teens, I felt like an outsider as a result of my weight and appearance,’ the online weight loss coach and musician recalled.

‘My self-esteem was very low and it reflected in how I acted and the poor choices I was making at the time. It was apparent that family and friends were concerned for my wellbeing being as heavy as I was.’

By the time he was 19 years old, Omar weighed 438 pounds and wore a 5XL shirt.

‘I remember being called out on my weight by elementary school kids when I would walk by to pick up my younger brother from school,’ he said.

‘Kids are innocent and generally have no filter, so I got name-called the stereotypical things like “fat**” or “fatty” and just overheard them talking about how big I was.

‘It made me feel worse about myself and further lowered my self-esteem. It was heartbreaking at the time, but I tried to ignore it and act as if it never happened.’

After years of struggling with low self-esteem and feeling like an outsider, Omar decided enough was enough.

In April 2018, he started following a high-protein, high-fiber based diet and amped up his workouts to include weight training.

Omar lost an incredible 169 pounds in just 18 months. At 269 pounds, he now wears a size XL. He no longer has to worry about getting out of breath or breaking a chair, and his confidence has grown immensely as a result.

‘My mental and physical health were both suffering severely. This was bigger than a ‘weight loss transformation’ – I transformed my entire life,’ he explained. ‘Changing my mental mindset is what inevitably led me to then changing my weight.

Omar used to consume over 6,000 calories a day and would late-night binge on processed sugary foods such as ice cream, brownies, cookies, and cake.

He’d find himself ordering junk food, like pizza and burgers, in order to stress eat. Besides the occasional game of basketball, Omar admitted that he would often spend much of the day lying in bed.

The weight loss winner now eats around 3,000 calories a day and opts for healthier options, with chicken, steak, salmon, salad, and rice being some of his favorite foods.

Omar also weight lifts four times a week and incorporates a cardio workout three times a week. His new diet plan has been so successful that he has started sharing it with others with similar weight loss goals.

‘I actually created my own meal plan that follows this same dieting style that I used to lose weight to help others do the same,’ he said. ‘The meal plan is available on my website.’

With this newfound confidence, Omar felt ready to hit the dating scene, which has been much more lucrative since he lost the weight.

‘Losing weight has done a lot of good to my life,’ he said. ‘For example, I don’t have to worry about things such as being out of breath from walking a flight of stairs or whether or not I might break the chair I am about to sit in.

‘Not having these worries now is a blessing and makes life a lot less stressful. The general consensus is that people are inspired and get feelings of hope and motivation from my weight loss.

‘I’m not a virgin anymore, which is cool,’ he added. ‘I think overweight guys can still definitely pull women, but it is undeniable that physical attraction is a big key element that women look for so it definitely made it easier to find opportunities with women.

‘When you have to lose over 200 pounds as I did, there will be countless times where you doubt the process or question everything you have done up until that point.

‘Having faith and seeing how far I already had come during those pit stops is what made the biggest difference.’

The extreme weight loss has left Omar with loose skin, which negatively affects his workouts and makes it difficult to find flattering clothes.

‘My main problem is I now have loose skin left on me,’ he said. ‘The loose skin has become a bit of an obstacle when working out and also has made it challenging to find clothes that fit well and comfortably.

‘I am hoping to get it removed eventually; however, it is quite an expensive process, so it’s something that may take a while for me to save up money for.

Omar advised anyone who wants to lose weight to start by making small changes, saying they will quickly begin to pay off.

‘Just start. Even if you aren’t familiar with the right workout or diet, there has to be something you know you can do right now to set you up in a better direction,’ he said.

‘Whether that means cutting out soda or adding a morning walk to your schedule, do something that will work in your favor.

‘Once you get the ball rolling, everything else will naturally fall into place with the appropriate course of action taken.’
