Quack march! Moment geese stop the traffic as they waddle across a zebra crossing in single file

  • Footage shows up to 20 geese crossing the road near Greenwich Park in London
  • They can be seen joining a larger group gathering on Blackheath across the road
  • Moment was filmed by NHS worker Aisling Roche-Morris during a morning cycle

This is the moment a flock of geese brought traffic to a standstill as they waddled across a zebra crossing in south-east London.

Up to 20 of the birds can seen walking in single file in footage recorded just south of Greenwich Park.

They joined a larger group of geese which had gathered on Blackheath on the other side of the road.

Passersby can be seen stopping to film the amusing moment as cars were forced to wait several minutes.

Aisling Roche-Morris, a NHS Senior Clinical Psychologist, filmed the moment while out cycling on the morning of August 28.

She tweeted: ‘Saturday morning traffic jam,’ with one person replying: ‘They sure are taking their leisurely time, aren’t they?’.

Another joked: ‘Who do they think they are?

‘No respect for tax-paying motorists. Bloody marvellous behaviour.’

Another said: ‘On the way to Lewisham hospital with the missus in labour.

‘But it’s cool, it’s cool…’

One Twitter user described the moment as both ‘cute and frustrating’ while another simply branded it ‘delightful.’

At least these birds knew where they were going, unlike the family of ducks that wandered into the University of Nottingham’s George Green Library.

Five ducklings were filmed following their mother through an open door and under the security gates into the library in July this year.

The birds enjoyed a ‘calm and unflustered’ walk around the aisles of books before being safely escorted out of the building by a librarian.
